What are the signs of stress? Are there effective ways to deal with it? The truth is there are many signs of stress, but there are six key signs that should never be ignored. The good news is that while there are many signs of stress, there are effective ways you can deal with it such as through brain training.
In today’s blog article, we will be talking about the six signs of stress and how brain training can help. Keep reading to learn more!
1). Aches & Pains
One of the key signs of stress actually manifests as physical pain. Stress can cause physical pain ranging from body aches to headaches, and muscle aches. The severity of the pain depends on several factors that can vary from person to person.
2). Depression
The effects of chronic, or long-term, stress can be harmful on their own, but they also can contribute to depression, a mood disorder that makes you feel sad and disinterested in things you usually enjoy. Depression can affect your appetite, your sleep habits, and your ability to concentrate.
3). Mood Swings
A major sign of stress that nobody should ignore is mood swings. While it’s normal to experience different moods throughout the day, what’s not normal is bouts of severe mood swings on a regular basis. If you are quickly going from angry to happy to depressed and then to extremely irritated, then you may be experiencing the compounding effects of stress.
4). Isolation
People who are often stressed out will isolate themselves. They will only interact with people if it is absolutely necessary or if it’s unavoidable. When a person first experiences stress, they may start to slowly isolate themselves until the isolation gradually worsens as the stress overtakes them.
5). Negative Thoughts
Even a mild case of stress can cause a person to only think negative thoughts. A severe case of stress can lead to a person being extremely negative in both their thoughts and actions. If someone is being negative constantly, then there’s a good chance they are experiencing some stress to a degree.
6). Poor Judgment
Poor judgment is another key sign of stress that many people don’t recognise. All too often, when a person is stressed out, they can end up using poor judgment. For example, a person might turn to very unhealthy habits that could cause their stress to increase. These habits may include substance abuse, not exercising or binge eating unhealthy foods.
